iPad Edition
I have loved the concept of the iPad since the moment it was released. I was holding out for the iPad 2 and was happy to finally get my hands on one the day after they were released.
Here is my situation; I have a work laptop, always connected to VPN, running Windows XP. It can be a pain to work with especially when I am at a client site. I tend to shy away from the PC laptop because of the boot, login and extra cables to carry around.
Enter the iPad 2: I use the iPad 2 for all situations that involve email, Word or Excel docs, reviewing PDF files and accessing the Internet. In fact, I can even create a VPN link back to my desktop in the office. It’s easy to use, turns on in seconds, and is very thin and light weight. Only real drawback is the keyboard is on the screen and that takes some getting used to.
You can also install (free or purchased) apps that allow you to do a whole host of neat things. So to sum it up, maybe the iPad is a perfect fit for your remote needs. Give it a try!!
